Casey and Ashley run Sterling's Affordable Excavating out of Brownsburg. The company carries their son's name, which is a harder standard to work under than a made up one.
Casey ran crews as a foreman for a larger company before he and Ashley decided to open their own LLC. That is the whole origin story, and it explains most of what is different about hiring them.
In excavation, the gap between what gets promised and what gets done is usually the gap between the person who sold the job and the person who showed up to do it. There is no gap here. Casey is the one walking your property, the one writing the estimate, and the one running the machine. Ashley keeps the schedule and the communication moving so questions get answered and nobody is left wondering when the crew is coming.
Ashley is the principal on the LLC filing, which makes Sterling's a woman owned business as well as a family one.
We are a small business, family owned and operated, and we believe in affordability. We lead with integrity, honesty and hard work. The same person who does the initial meeting is the same person coming to do the job and making sure it is done correctly.
Our goal is to be successful and to grow, and to build partnerships and relationships that last. That last part is not filler. Most of our favorite jobs come from people we have worked for before, or from their neighbors, and that only happens when the first job went the way it was supposed to.
We specialize in diagnosing drainage problems and designing solutions that address the root cause, not just the symptoms. That is the whole difference between a fix and a repeat visit.
Honest recommendations, including telling you when the problem is smaller than you feared, or when it is not something we do.
Communication stays clear from estimate through completion, and the estimate arrives by email with the work laid out.
We obtain permits and coordinate inspections whenever the work requires them, rather than leaving that to you.
We minimize disruption, protect what is staying, and leave the site clean. Restoring disturbed ground is part of the job, not an extra.
Insured, and committed to completing every project safely and according to applicable codes.
The same person who does the initial meeting is the same person coming to do the job and making sure it is done correctly.
Casey and Ashley, in their own words

Communication. Respect for the property. Doing what was promised. Those are choices, not accidents, and they are the same choices we make on every job.
One customer had been trying for years to get a contractor to listen about redirecting water from her foundation before doing anything else. Another was a senior, disabled veteran who wanted a patio and sitting area that was actually accessible, and who wrote that it is rare to find contractors with this much integrity and heart. A third mentioned that the communication kept up before, during and after the work, even while they were out of town.
After matters. If something needs a second look once the work settles in, call. We answer.
Casey and Ashley, a husband and wife team. Ashley is the principal on the LLC, which makes this a woman owned business. They named the company after their son, Sterling.
Casey. He walks the property, writes the estimate and runs the job. The person who gave you the number is the person doing the work.
Sterling's Affordable Excavating, LLC was formed in 2026. Casey spent years running crews as a foreman for a larger company before opening it.
Yes, and where a job requires permits and inspections we pull them and coordinate them rather than leaving that to you.
Because they meant it, and because they wanted to be held to it. Affordable is not cheap. Cheap means corners get cut somewhere you cannot see. Affordable means the price is fair for work done right and you know it in writing before anybody starts.
Tell us what is going on in your own words. You do not need the technical terms, and you do not need a plan drawn up.
